Our friendly staff can help you with everything you need to know before you climb but it is an excellent idea to review this page and be prepared for your visit!
All gym users must sign a waiver. All parents or court appointed legal guardians must sign a waiver for their child.

To be able to climb at our gym, you have to know how to make a figure eight knot in a rope, how to tie yourself into a rope, and use proper, safe belay technique.
What is Belay? Belaying is simply the technique for holding the rope for a climber so that they are safe if they fall and that they won’t fall and hit the ground. Belaying is usually done using a carabiner or belay device.
Because we value safety and education, we do have stringent Belay Certification Qualifications.
If it is your first time climbing or if you are not familiar with belay techniques, we recommend scheduling a belay lesson (The lesson is $8). View Belay Lesson Times.
(NOTE: You can also schedule a Belay Lesson over the phone before you come in to avoid wait time and peak hours when it may be difficult to accommodate—- 858.201.4411)
After you pass the Belay Certification Test, you get a certification card and, guess what? Climb On and Have Fun!
While we do not enforce an age limit for Belay Certification, we usually do not teach children under 12 years old how to belay. The reason is because 12 years old is the minimum age that most children are competent to belay. Because we value safety and education, we do have stringent Belay Certification Qualifications. Review the Belay Certification Section if necessary.
One of the unique aspects of our gym is that we do not put carabiners and belay devices on the ropes. There are two main reasons for this:
We’re not just a gym, but an educational facility too
We strive to really teach people not only how to climb, but also be self-sufficient, which increases climbing safety
To provide an inclusive method of climbing
To accommodate our climbing community, we encourage the use of your own devices that you’re more familiar with. This ensures safety and climber preference. Of course, we definitely have all the equipment you need to have an awesome climb time!
