This 2-hour introduction to Ashtanga course will teach you about the history, benefits, and mechanics of Ashtanga Yoga while introducing the Ashtanga yoga Standing, Primary, and Finishing series.
Ashtanga Yoga is a structured practice using a prescribed sequence of energetic poses supported by powerful breath. The postures are always performed in the same order for the same length of time, and the practice begins and ends with ritual invocations in Sanskrit. Ashtanga Yoga provides both systematic full body movement and the opportunity to turn attention inward. Flow, Power, and Vinyasa yoga are all in some ways informed or inspired by Ashtanga Yoga practice.
