Every climber is on a unique journey to reach their own individual goals. Mesa Rim’s recreational and competitive youth programs are designed to help climbers of all levels reach new heights by building the best foundation possible in a fun, supportive environment.

RECREATIONAL CLIMBING TEAMS

Alpine Team
ALPINE TEAM
RECREATIONAL CLIMBING TEAM

The Alpine Team is a monthly commitment for youth climbers that have been through our Adventure Series and would like to take their climbing to the next level.  

In this program climbers will work with coaches on the following:

  • Safety
  • Climbing Gym Etiquette
  • Being a good teammate and member of our community.
  • Endurance

1:6 Coaching Ratio.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 7-16 years of old
  • Must pass belay test prior to admittance to the program
  • Admission by team try-outs or completion of Adventure Series

PRICE: $190.00 per month (harness and shoe rental included)

SESSIONS:

  • Wednesdays: 4:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Thursdays: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
  • Fridays: 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Ascent Team
ASCENT team
RECREATIONAL CLIMBING TEAM

The Ascent Team is a monthly commitment for beginner to intermediate youth climbers.  

In this program, climbers will work with coaches to grow their skills in the following ways:

  • Technique
  • Climbing Etiquette
  • Fitness
  • Endurance
  • Climbing Skills and Passion

1:6 Coaching Ratio.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 7-18 years of old
  • Admission by team try out or coaches recommendation.

PRICE: $225.00 per month (harness and shoe rental included)

SESSIONS:

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 4:00pm – 6:00pm

Peak Team
PEAK TEAM
RECREATIONAL CLIMBING TEAM

The Peak Team is a monthly commitment for beginner climbers that are teenagers!

In this program climbers will work with coaches on the following:

  • Safety
  • Climbing Gym Etiquette
  • Being a good teammate and member of our community.
  • Endurance

1:6 Coaching Ratio.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 13 to 18 years old
  • Admission by team try-outs or approval from the Head Coach 
  • Must pass belay test prior to admittance to the program.

PRICE: $190 per month (harness and shoe rental included)

SESSIONS:

  • Fridays: 4:00pm – 6:oopm
Vertical Youth Team
APEX TEAM
RECREATIONAL CLIMBING TEAM

The Apex Team is a monthly commitment for youth climbers that have an interest in learning how to train for climbing both physically and mentally. Climbers will learn how to lead in this program, goal setting to track progress, injury prevention, and nutrition and. During this program in this program climbers will work with coaches on the following:

  • Safety
  • Climbing Gym Etiquette
  • Being a good teammate and member of our community
  • Endurance

1:6 Coaching Ratio

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 13-18 years of old
  • Must pass belay test prior to admittance to the program.
  • Admission from the Head Coach

PRICE: $275.00 per month 

SESSIONS:

  • Tuesday – Friday: 4:00pm – 7:00pm

COMPETITIVE CLIMBING TEAMS

Vertical Youth Team
Vertical YOUTH team
COMPETITIVE CLIMBING TEAM

The Vertical Team is a 3-month commitment for youth climbers who are eager to train for climbing and are interested in competitions. In this program, climbers will have personalized training and will compete in local competitions.

Minimum duration on this team is 2 months before moving up to the Summit Youth Team.

1:8 Coaching Ratio.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 7-18 years of old
  • Admission by team try-outs or approval from the Head Coach
  • Participation at Qualifying Events
  • If an athlete qualifies for Regional Championships it is strongly encouraged to participate.
  • Athletes who qualify for major competitions may not have any personal travel 1 week prior to the event to ensure they are prepared through practice attendance.

PRICE: $275.00 per month (Team Membership fee does not include additional seasonal fees or equipment)

SESSIONS:

  • Mondays & Wednesdays: 4:00pm – 7:00pm
Summit Team
SUMMIT YOUTH team
COMPETITIVE CLIMBING TEAM

The Summit Team is a 6 month commitment for youth climbers who are eager to train for climbing and want to take competitions to a new level.  This program offers personalized training that will help climbers achieve their competition and climbing goals.

1:8 Coaching Ratio.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 7 to 18 years old
  • Admission by team try-outs or approval from the Head Coach
  • Athletes in youth categories C/D/B will be required to compete and train in all three disciplines, bouldering, sport/top rope, and speed. In this program, youth A and JR athletes will have the opportunity to specialize in disciplines with coach’s permission and guidance.
  • Participation at Qualifying Events and Championship Events is mandatory in all disciplines.
  • There will be travel for competitions and training camps throughout the year. Athletes will be required to travel for competitions and are encouraged to attend training camps twice per year.
  • Athletes who qualify for major competitions may not have any personal travel 2 weeks prior to the event  to ensure they are prepared through practice attendance.

PRICE: $350 per month (Team Membership fee does not include additional seasonal fees or equipment)

SESSIONS:

  • Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: 4:00pm – 7:oopm
Pinnacle Team
SUMMIT PLUS YOUTH TEAM
 COMPETITIVE CLIMBING TEAM

The Summit Plus is a 10 month commitment for youth athletes that includes:

  • Individualized Goal Setting
  • 1 Competition Video Analysis
  • 50% off all camps, lessons, and clinics

1:8 Coaching Ratio.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 7 to 18 years old
  • Admission by team try-outs or approval from the Head Coach – All athletes who compete at Nationals will be admitted into the program
  • Athletes in youth categories C/D/B will be required to compete and train in all three disciplines, bouldering, sport/top rope, and speed. In this program, youth A and JR athletes will have the opportunity to specialize in disciplines with coach’s permission and guidance.
  • Participation at Qualifying Events and Championship Events is mandatory in all disciplines.
  • There will be travel for competitions and training camps throughout the year.
  • Athletes in this program are required to attend 1 training camp per year.
  • Athletes may not have any personal travel 2 weeks prior to major events such as Regionals, Divisionals, and/or Nationals to ensure they are prepared through practice attendance.

Each coach is strategically scheduled to maximize their contribution to the program(s) they serve and are developed to fully express their potential.   • Jules has been climbing outside most of his life! Armed with an extensive climbing background and a degree in Education, Jules specializes in mental wellness on the wall, meditation, goal setting, moving through plateaus, introducing new climbers to the sport, and working with old and young alike! Jules has knowledge in many disciplines in climbing including bouldering, sport climbing, and traditional multi pitch climbing. He is passionate about bringing educational concepts to the world of rock climbing and brings a playful and holistic approach to both rock climbing movement and risk taking

  • Flynn has been climbing outdoors since 2016. He has been a climbing instructor and coach at Mesa Rim for over 3 years. He has an extensive background in outdoor climbing and has helped more than 100 people to master the technical skills required to climb ropes. His knowledge expands to various areas of climbing, including Bouldering, Single-pitch sport and trad, Alpine, and Aid climbing. Flynn’s passion for climbing is shown through his work where he trains others in rigging technical systems, harnessing body movement, and so much more.

  • Nicky brings 30 years of climbing all over the world to her coaching. She has been a student of many genres: hard sport and trad climbs, putting up first ascents, training, feeling terrified and being lazy. Nicky has both dreaded climbing and used it to fuel her existence. She is passionate about distilling the lessons of her many (mis)adventures into time-saving gems of mindset and immaculate technique so that more climbers can have happy, healthy, energizing relationships with our favorite sport.

  • Level 1 Route Setter (USA Climbing)
  • Growing up as a competitive tennis player, then transitioning into climbing in his teens, Garrett brings 2 decades of experience to climbing. He prioritizes mindset, motivation, and performance in both competitive and non-competitive settings.
  • Garrett has also spent a decade studying and working within the education system, teaching students from elementary to graduate level. While teaching, Garrett specialized in subfields of behavioral economics, cognitive psychology, and business leadership. In his free time, he continues to chase his outdoor boulder problems and grow as a climber.
  • He considers his greatest success to be helping athletes to find their path up the wall.

My unique approach emphasizes the intentions behind movement and delves into the thought process of climbing, allowing athletes to develop a deeper understanding of their own abilities and reach their full potential.
  • With my years of experience in climbing and coaching, I possess a deep understanding of training modalities, fitness, and competition style climbing. I excel in helping athletes develop mental toughness, honing their technique, and optimizing their movement on the wall. My dedication to goal setting and crafting personalized training plans ensures that each athlete progresses effectively and efficiently. What sets me apart is my ability to establish a strong rapport with my clients, creating a supportive and motivating environment that fosters growth and success.
  • I have had the privilege of working with various individuals and groups, including coaching at Mesa Pre-National Training Camps and leading Sport/Bouldering Training Camps. Through my coaching, I have guided athletes to success at the national level, empowering them to achieve their goals and reach new heights in their climbing journey.
