A Special Opportunity to Volunteer
In partnership with the Yosemite Conservancy, Mesa Rim is sponsoring a lucky member at each of our gyms to participate in a week of rebuilding the climbing access trail to Washington Column in Yosemite Valley this summer and fall.
Volunteer Details
Winners will be registered to join a crew of up to 15 volunteers for a week of service and fun. Mesa Rim will cover the program’s Work Fee which includes park entry fees, a group campsite, three hearty meals per day, showers & commemorative shirt and hat ($325 value)! Note that transportation to and from the park is not included and must be arranged on your own.
The program runs Sunday to Saturday, with 4 days of work required. Trail work will vary from the grunt work of moving rocks and dirt to the skilled task of building rock steps and retaining walls. On work days there is time in the afternoon to hike, climb or just enjoy the park.

About the Project
The South Face of Washington Column is the training wall for first-time big wall climbers and is one of the busiest wall routes in Yosemite Valley. The unofficial trail that accesses the South Face is eroding and needs to be rebuilt properly. Yosemite Valley Park Service rangers need volunteers to help to complete this project.
Full details about this volunteer opportunity are available at the Yosemite Conservancy.
